Chongqing 1949 Grand Theatre

Located at No.999 Jinbi Zhengjie, Ciqikou, Shapingba District, Chongqing, Chongqing 1949 Grand Theatre is a large-scale custom-built immersive theatre specially designed for the show Chongqing · 1949.

It is known as the world’s largest single indoor dynamic immersive theatre, equipped with a 360° rotating auditorium and five-ring rotating stage. The stage can present more than 60 million scene combinations, realistically restoring old Chongqing scenes such as ciqikou wharf, stilted buildings, mountain-city streets and revolutionary sites.

The theatre combines high-tech effects including 3D visuals, surround sound, aerial wire work, seat vibration and special lighting, creating a highly immersive performance experience.

Chongqing · 1949 is a large-scale red-themed immersive stage drama.

Set in Chongqing on the eve of liberation in 1949, the show tells the story of revolutionaries’ unyielding faith and fearless sacrifice. It focuses on:

• The firm belief and heroic deeds of revolutionary martyrs;
• The fate of a family amid great changes of the times;
• The historical memory of Chongqing before liberation.

With a duration of about 70 minutes, the performance uses a revolving auditorium so the audience can follow the plot and experience different scenes dynamically. It is one of the most representative immersive performances in Chongqing, integrating history, emotion and high-tech stage art.
